Dr. Kara Ericksen


Veterinarian and Co-Owner

Emergency and Internal Medicine

Since third grade, Kara Ericksen knew she wanted to be veterinarian.  In high school she volunteered at a veterinary office in Davenport, Iowa.  She graduated in 1996 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. 

Dr. Ericksen has an extensive background in veterinary emergency medicine and internal medicine.  She founded All-Star Animal Hospital in July, 2004 with her husband, Dr. Matt Ericksen.  In addition to treating dogs and cats, Dr. Ericksen enjoys working with small, "pocket pet" mammals.

Dr. Ericksen is mom to daughters Kelsey and Rylie and pet mom to German Wirehaired Pointer Maddux, dapple dachshund Murphy and cat Oliver.  She is also an avid sports fan and collects sports memorabilla, much of which decorates the All-Star offices. 

 

 


Dr. Matt Ericksen


Veterinarian and Co-Owner

Surgery and Exotic Animals

From an early age, Matt Ericksen had a deep respect for animals and the environment.  Dr. Ericksen is an avid out-doorsman and loves just about any activity that occurs in the open air, whether it be golfing, hiking or camping.

Dr. Ericksen began working with animals in high school and graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 from Iowa State.  As a student at Iowa State, Dr. Ericksen met his lab partner and future wife, Kara.  The Ericksens co-own All-Star Animal Hospital and have two daughters, Kelsey and Rylie.  In addition to the family pets (dogs "Maddux" and "Murphy" and cat "Oliver"), Dr. Ericksen has four snakes. 

Professional, Dr. Ericksen's focus is surgery and medical care for exotic species such as reptiles and snakes.

 

 


Dr. Wayne Zuvers


Associate Veterinarian

Emergency and Critical Care

Phoenix native, Wayne Zuvers is an alumnus of Moon Valley High School and Arizona State University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness and Environmental Resources.  In 1999, he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. 

Returning to Phoenix after graduation, Dr. Zuvers practiced emergency and critical care medicine for seven years.  Dr. Zuvers joined the staff of All-Star in February, 2006 to focus on companion animal practice.  His professional interests include emergency and critical care, veterinary internal medicine and small animal surgery.

Dr. Zuvers' personal interests include collecting movies and movie memorabilia and reading true crime novels.  He is married to Melissa, and enjoys spending time with their four children, Hailey, Emma, Robert and Piper.  Dr. Zuvers is the proud owner of Hank, a spririted Labrador retriever.
